A MATERIAL WORLD

‘Leather’ is a rich and complex material—one that WearNou approaches with deep respect and uncompromising standards. We believe that truly exceptional footwear can only be crafted through a full understanding of high-quality leathers and their unique characteristics.

At WearNou, we work exclusively with premium-grade leathers, including specially selected Argentinian and European hides, known for their durability, texture, and elegance. Every skin we use must meet our stringent quality benchmarks throughout the production process—from tanning to finishing—ensuring consistency, comfort, and character in every pair.

Below is an overview of the leather types and finishes that define the soul of our current collection.

Argentinian Hatch Leather

A full-grain leather type embossed with a fine, raised hatch-pattern—typically created during tanning to mimic natural textures.

  • Durable & robust: Full-grain construction resists scuffs and holds shape over time.
  • Textured elegance: Visually distinct crosshatch pattern lends understated sophistication.
  • Aging gracefully: Softens and develops patina with wear.

Argentinian Crust Leather

Crust leather is unfinished, vegetable- or chrome-tanned leather that has not been dyed or surface-treated. It retains its natural beige or pale tone and serves as a blank canvas for artisans to hand-finish each pair of shoes with custom colors and patinas.

  • Natural & Raw: Retains the natural grain and surface marks of the hide, giving it character.
  • Hand-Finishable: Ideal for custom dyeing, burnishing, and patina work.
  • Soft & Flexible: Compared to fully finished leathers, crust leather has a supple, glove-like feel when broken in.

Suede Leather

Suede is a type of leather made from the underside of the hide, giving it a soft, velvety nap. Unlike full-grain leather, suede has no polished surface, allowing for a plush texture and relaxed, casual appeal.

  • Soft, velvety texture: Instantly recognizable touch; gentle on the skin and flexible around the foot.
  • Matte elegance: Subdued and luxurious, perfect for casual to smart-casual footwear.
  • Lightweight feel: Lighter than full-grain leathers, great for loafers and summer shoes.

Braided Leather

Fine leather strips woven by hand into an upper, typically attached onto a structured backing to maintain shape.

  • Superior breathability: Interwoven design allows airflow—great for warm climates.
  • Soft & flexible: Naturally conforms to the foot for excellent comfort.
  • Artisanal style: Intricate weaving showcases craftsmanship.
